What can I do? I don’t have a large platform to reach the masses. I don’t even have a small platform. I don’t have incredible spiritual giftings. I’m not even sure if I have any unique spiritual giftings. What am I to do?
The life and death of Charlie Kirk and Voddie Baucham have inspired me. I have benefited from their ministries. With their passing, I see just how short life is. I have been inspired not to waste my remaining time. More than ever, I want to be used by God to make a difference in the lives of others. But I am left with a sense of not knowing what to do. What am I to do?
If this is you, do not feel alone. God, in His good providence, gifts the church with great men such as Charlie and Voddie. We are to thank God for such men and pray for God to raise others for the present and future needs of our day. Yet, this does not mean we are to sit on the sidelines and wait for God to draft others into the ministry. What are we to do? We are to go to work while it is still daylight. We have all been called and gifted by God to be His ambassadors. We all have a role to play. We all can do something to build the kingdom of God. We can all make eternal investments and use our lives for something greater than self-preservation and the enjoyment of the moment, for the kingdom of God has been built by the Holy Spirit working in the lives and ministries of millions of average Christians who seek to serve with humility in the shadows.
What are we to do? We are not called to seek attention and praise of men, but instead humbly serve the people around us with truth and love. The greatest in the kingdom are the servants who are happy to minister in their prayer closet. The greatest in the kingdom may be those we have never heard of by name. The greatest are those who wait on tables and give their lives to faithfully minister when no one is looking.
The kingdom of God grows one soul at a time. We all want revival. We would all like to throw our nets into the water and catch hundreds of fish all at once. Yet, most of the time, we are called to fish all day. What can we do? We can serve our local church. We can visit the sick. We can pray. We can love our spouse and disciple our children. We can share our faith with a loved one who is lost. We can open our mouths with the gospel when we are scared of being rejected. We can devote more of our time and allocate more of our financial resources to ministry needs. We can live eternally with the gifts, resources, and life God has set before us. We all have a role to play. We all have something we can do to serve God. Those who serve daily in the little things will have a mountain of spiritual fruit that will follow them into eternity.
What are we to do? There is a lot we can do. May the inspiration we have received from the life and death of Charlie and Voddie push all of us, like an army of workers, to greatness in the sphere and ministry God has set before us all.
